"After the experience of a double step, summer and winter in the Atina Jazz Festival, also in the new extension to the quartet, with the addition of the emerging talent of trumpeter Luca Aquino, here is the debut album of this interesting trio. All the formations with piano, bass and drums are always forced to face the daunting task of dealing with the cumbersome historical legacy of the "classic jazz trio" from Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett, threatens to crush the legitimate aspirations of any personality.
Aspirations more than justified in this case, where compositional ability, interpretational thickness and technical mastery are at the service of a job which suited the adjective of "original". Without denying the tradition, the musicians have succeeded in landing its own stylistic, in which Mediterranean spicy atmospheres and echoes of Middle-Eastern influences – "Migrations" , precisely-engaging, without ever distorting, in the classic jazz trio, modern language, based on the complementarity of roles and the interchange between the musicians.
The result is a work of great atmosphere, with a unique ease of listening, able to seduce the newbies and to satisfy the palates. As the pianist Tommaso Folchetti, author of almost all the tracks from the album, it would appear to be the leader of a group "peer reviewed", but it is the deep bass voice of Mario Mazzenga often steal the scene in the plan, stressing with wisdom all folds of this emotive music, especially in "Faizah's Dream", written by Mazzenga. The drums of Guido Marcelli, especially on slower tracks, crops a role more defiladed except coming out in sorties of short but incisive solo always well calibrated. Difficult to choose between the titles of an album by homogeneous suspended atmosphere, rightly conceived to be listened to in full.
Deserve a mention at least the hypnotic "Sonaria", by the fascinating introduction, and the swirling "Danza di Teber", which echoes the Arab-Andalusian atmosphere of the legendary "Olè!" of coltranian memory."

"Dopo l'esperienza di un doppio passaggio, estivo ed invernale, ad Atina Jazz Festival, anche nell'inedita estensione a quartetto, con l'aggiunta del talento emergente del trombettista Luca Aquino, ecco l'album di esordio di questo interessante trio. Tutte le formazioni con piano, contrabbasso e batteria sono da sempre costrette ad affrontare l'arduo compito di confrontarsi con l'ingombrante eredità storica del "classico jazz trio" che, a partire da Bill Evans e Keith Jarrett, rischia di schiacciare le legittime aspirazioni di qualsiasi personalità.
Aspirazioni più che giustificate in questo caso, laddove capacità compositive, spessore interpretativo e padronanza tecnica restano al servizio di un lavoro cui ben si attaglia l'aggettivo di "originale". Senza rinnegare la tradizione, i musicisti sono riusciti ad approdare ad una propria cifra stilistica, nella quale atmosfere ed echi mediterranei speziati di suggestioni medio-orientali – "Migrazioni", appunto - si innestano, senza stravolgerlo, nel classico linguaggio del moderno trio jazz, basato sulla complementarietà dei ruoli e sull'interscambio tra i musicisti.
Il risultato è un lavoro di grande atmosfera, con una singolare facilità di ascolto, in grado al contempo di sedurre i neofiti e di soddisfare i palati più fini. Come da tradizione il pianista Tommaso Folchetti, autore di quasi tutti i brani dell'album, sembrerebbe essere il leader di un gruppo "inter pares", ma è la voce profonda del contrabbasso di Mario Mazzenga a rubare spesso la scena al piano, sottolineando con sapienza tutte le pieghe emotive di questa musica, soprattutto in "Faizah's Dream", scritta dallo stesso Mazzenga. La batteria di Guido Marcelli, soprattutto nei brani più lenti, si ritaglia un ruolo più defilato, salvo uscire allo scoperto in sortite di brevi ma incisivi assolo sempre ben calibrati. Difficile scegliere tra i titoli di un album omogeneo, dalle atmosfere sospese, giustamente concepito per essere ascoltato per intero.
Meritano comunque una citazione almeno l'ipnotica "Sonaria", dall'affascinante introduzione, e la vorticosa "Danza di Teber", che riecheggia le atmosfere arabo-andaluse del leggendario "Olè!" di coltraniana memoria."
